You may know this feeling when you find something interesting: the urge to spread it ticks inside. We've been thinking a lot about sharing documentaries and books that inspire us, never really taking the step. But it's not often we find one that happens in Norway, so here it is. The Guardian published this Norwegian mini homemade documentary, "Rowdy Flock," about a small sheep farm in northern Norway. It's about 23 minutes long and in Norwegian with English subtitles.
"The entire ecosystem is all about balance. Maybe that's what clashes with our western capitalist way of thinking."
Through the wheel of a year, from the cold of January to the next winter, you follow Rakel, who just took over her father's role in managing the family sheep farm, keen to keep the old traditions alive while preparing for the future. It includes sustainable caring for nature, healthy food production, together with a meaningful way of life. Without making money a supreme goal, it brings local people together in social and inspirational gatherings to hand over traditional knowledge.
In short, an opportunity for you to virtually travel to Norway, immerse yourself in the beautiful scenery, folk music, and the charming northern accent, as well as peek into a sheep farmer's life.
