The trees in its diversity of green
give us shade and air to breath,
home for birds and insects,
and they shine in the rays of the summer sun.
Watching the trees as their leaves let go
of the green dress of summer
while they adjust and inhale
the golden colors of autumn.
Slowly they wait for the soft kisses
of the falling snow,
to embrace them with a white blanket
for protection through the cold winter's night.
Sleeping silently under their white coat
until the warmth of spring
with nourishing gentle rain
once again will call for life to sprout.
